Part-Time Studio Assistant

Part-time studio assistant role available with About the Curl.

This position is ideal for a textile/fashion student or recent graduate looking for experience in a paid part-time role.

This is a superb opportunity for anyone starting out their career. You will be working alongside the Owner/Founder of About the Curl and will learn how to start and grow a small fashion accessory business.

The Role

The main part of the role will be making/sewing the accessories. (Headbands, scrunchies, T-shirt towels etc.) However, we would love you to get involved with other aspects of the business from administrative tasks to marketing.

Details:

Design & Make - cutting out fabrics, constructing accessories (headbands, scrunchies etc.) quality checking, sourcing fabrics and materials, designing new products.

Administration - Packing and fulfilling orders, photography of new products, uploading new content to the website, dealing with customer enquiries, dealing with trade partners.

Marketing - Creating content for TikTok and Instagram including posts, reels and stories. Building relationships with influencers and working on seasonal campaigns and sales. 

Experience required

This role is for an assistant looking to start out their career. Training will be given on how to create the specific items at About the Curl and on all aspects of the business, however the below is essential:

Must have several years of machine sewing experience.

Experience in cutting out fabrics and creating accessories or garments. 

Currently studying or recently graduated from a related course (Fashion, textiles etc.) Or have several years of experience sewing and making.

The role will be on a freelance basis - submitting invoices to About the Curl either weekly or monthly. Payment will be the national minimum wage to begin with.

Typical hours will be 10-5 on Saturdays or Sundays (Will organise around both of our needs) and more hours may be available during periods of higher demand.

Once fully trained, there will be the opportunity to work remotely on some occasions.
